Box Score COLUMBIA, S.C. – Salem College soccer (1-2) fell to Columbia College (3-0), 9-0, Thursday evening at Younts Stadium. Goalkeeper Michaela Iapaluccio recorded nine saves as Salem faced 30 shots from the Koalas. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Columbia opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Kinzly Cohen found the back of the net to give the Koalas an early 1-0 lead. Malia Kincaid followed less than two minutes later, scoring off an assist from Cohen to extend the advantage to 2-0. 

The Koalas continued to build momentum throughout the first half, adding goals from Kaky Sears, Gwenna Townsend and Josie Smith. Townsend scored twice in the opening period as Columbia took a 6-0 lead into halftime. 

Salem generated its first shot of the match in the 26th minute when Dianelis Gonzales-Galan sent an attempt wide. Alexia Valente-Arreola also created an opportunity late in the second half, while Maria Torres recorded a shot in the 64th minute. 

Columbia added three goals in the second half, with Townsend completing a hat trick in the 48th minute before Jade Rutledge and JoJo Cubero closed out the scoring.
